Dale Franzen has over 40 years of experience in the creative arts industry as an Opera Singer, Artistic Director, Tony nominated Producer, Educator, Public Speaker, Mentor, and Consultant.

She is a lead producer on the Tony nominated new musical called Hadestown. Dale has been a supporter and producing Hadestown since its development stages back in 2011.  Hadestown had an off-Broadway run at the New York Theatre Workshop in 2016, which had reviews saying “Inventive. Spellbinding.” by the New York Times and “Hadestown Will Be Your Next Musical Theater Obsession” by Vogue. After NYTW, Hadestown crossed the border and has its Canadian debut at Edmonton’s Citadel Theater in Fall 2017 to sold out audiences.  After its Canadian run, Hadestown announced that it was jumping over the pond to première at London's National Theatre in November 2018, which had reviews saying “Timeless and Enduringly Relevant” and  “SUPERB. SUPERCOOL. STUNNING. In late 2018, Hadestown announced it’s return to New York, but this time on Broadway. Dale started her career as a classically trained soprano in both musical theater, operetta, and opera working with icons like Placido Domingo, Frederica Von Stade, Jonathan Miller, Sir Peter Hall to name a few.  After over twenty years as a singer, Dale's career took a surprising and wonderful turn as she was asked to create a performing arts center in Santa Monica, California to serve the community.  Fast forward a few years, Dale raised over $123-million dollars to build and run The Broad Stage and served as its Founding Director for 17 years and Founding Artistic Director for 7 seasons.

As a public speaking lecturer and strategic mentor to non-profits and artists, Dale has worked with hundreds of performers, non-performers, non-profits, and artists.  Her work includes classes, retreats, consulting, and one-on-ones.  Dale enjoys working with artists, emerging arts leaders, and interns to help launch their careers.  She has expanded her lectures into the academic setting at schools and universities like Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, UCLA, USC, and CalArts to name a few.

In her free time, Dale loves to travel, enjoy a good cup of tea, hula dancing, gardening, singing with her ukulele, and throwing a fun dinner party.  Dale has been married for over 35 years to the love of her life, Don, and the mother of three original and talented children.  One of her greatest joys in life is working with her daughter, Alexandra, attending a concert of her son, Ben, and getting a Thai massage from her daughter, Olivia.

Dale Franzen is a powerhouse, a woman of great vision and passion, a problem-solver of the first rank, that awesome combination of artist and entrepreneur. In short, like immigrants, she gets the job done.

Dale Franzen is all in. I came to her with an odd, never-been-done-before expensive idea and she simply said, “Yes.” She gave the artists what they needed and made something new on stage in Los Angeles. She has passion and follow through, a rare combination and the two things you need to make great Art.
