Dale started her career as a classically trained soprano in both musical theater, operetta, and opera working with icons like Placido Domingo, Frederica Von Stade, Jonathan Miller, Sir Peter Hall to name a few.  After over twenty years as a singer, Dale's career took a surprising and wonderful turn as she was asked to create a performing arts center in Santa Monica, California to serve the community.  Fast forward a few years, Dale raised over $123-million dollars to build and run The Broad Stage and served as its Founding Director for 17 years and Founding Artistic Director for 7 seasons.

As a public speaking lecturer and strategic mentor to non-profits and artists, Dale has worked with hundreds of performers, non-performers, non-profits, and artists.  Her work includes classes, retreats, consulting, and one-on-ones.  Dale enjoys working with artists, emerging arts leaders, and interns to help launch their careers.  She has expanded her lectures into the academic setting at schools and universities like Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, UCLA, USC, and CalArts to name a few.

Dale is honored to have been appointed to the Board of Library Commissioners for the city of Los Angeles, term ending on June 30, 2022, by Mayor Garcetti. Dale was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from Count Basie Center for the Arts in May 2019.

In her free time, Dale loves to travel, enjoy a good cup of tea, gardening, singing with her ukulele, and being involved with causes dear to her heart like Electoral College reform, Women’s Empowerment and gender equity issues.  Dale has been married for over 35 years to the love of her life, Don, and the mother of three original and talented children.  One of her greatest joys in life is working with her daughter, Alexandra, attending a concert of her son, Ben, and discussing comparative global religions and spirituality with her Masters candidate student, Olivia.

Dale Franzen is a powerhouse, a woman of great vision and passion, a problem-solver of the first rank, that awesome combination of artist and entrepreneur. In short, like immigrants, she gets the job done.

Dale Franzen is all in. I came to her with an odd, never-been-done-before expensive idea and she simply said, “Yes.” She gave the artists what they needed and made something new on stage in Los Angeles. She has passion and follow through, a rare combination and the two things you need to make great Art.
